There are many times during the year when children gather for worship, and also for community building. We kick off the school year with the Blessing of the Backpacks, and the Back to Belmont Bash which is a carnival/BBQ lunch for all ages. Kindergarteners get to know leaders in the church and make friends at the Kindergarten Pancake Breakfast. Around Halloween, we have a Children’s Fall Festival where children dress in costume, play games outside and have a cookout!
Special programming is offered at the All-Church Retreat, specifically for children, and typically in November, we have a Children’s Sabbath during the worship service, where children lead most of the roles during the service, as we remember the children around the world. Our oldest children’s choir, the Chapel Choir, is involved with singing in the annual Feast of Lights, our service of lessons and carols, and they also join with the Music Makers choir (1st/2nd grade) to sing on Christmas Eve.
In the spring semester, our children are involved in the Cocoa House, where parents share their talents, singing and ringing for the Ash Wednesday service, bringing in the palms in the Palm Sunday parade, and often sharing a musical to wrap up the school year!
